Some people assume that they can’t use their WiFi camera for taking photos unless it’s plugged into the wall.
It is understandable, considering most other things in life require some power source, whether a battery or an outlet. Fortunately, this is not the case for WiFi cameras.
Do you also wonder how to connect WiFi camera to mobile?
It would be best to connect to an existing WiFi network before you can do anything, but once joined, you can unplug it and take your camera anywhere in your home or office.
Before you start using the WiFi-enabled camera, you need to download an app that will allow you to control it remotely.

How to Connect WiFi Camera to Mobile
There are many types of connecting wifi cameras to mobile. In this article, I will guide you on how to connect a wifi camera with android, IOS, and a hotspot.
Let’s go into detail.
How to connect WiFi camera to iPhone

Using an iPhone as a wireless bridge, you will get an idea of how to connect a WiFi camera to the iPhone. There are many WiFi cameras on the market. You can connect some of them to iPhones via proprietary apps, and some – do not.
Unfortunately, most of them don’t offer an open solution (that is, no official support for third-party apps), which I needed at that time.
So here’s how you can establish communication between any IP camera and iPhone without using any expensive equipment or software tools:
How to connect WiFi camera to android phone
In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, almost everyone owns a camera in the form of a mobile phone.
The moment you switch it on and point in any direction, a flurry of options to shoot in color or black and white, movie mode, or still images bombard your mind making it hard to decide.
How about linking this smart device with a Wi-Fi-enabled camera?
Owning a smartphone is that you can connect it to other devices wirelessly via Bluetooth or share files over the internet using technologies like Near Field Communication (NFC).
The whole process might sound too technical at first, but after going through this article, you will know connect a WiFi camera to an Android phone without the router.
Steps to connect WiFi camera to android phone:
Wireless security tips for Android phones and tablets WiFi, the wireless networking standard used by Android devices, is built on a secure foundation.
Much of that security comes from the WPA2 Personal Wireless Encryption Protocol. Since every wireless network is unique, you must choose a unique password to encrypt your data and keep it from prying eyes.
When choosing a password, use a combination of alphanumeric characters and special symbols to ensure the best possible encryption.
How to Connect WiFi Camera to Mobile Hotspot
If you use a bug splat camera with WiFi capability, you can use your android device as a wireless hotspot and connect a WiFi CCTV camera.
This solution could be useful to connect the internet to your home security or emergency cameras when there is no other way to do it. It will not drain your battery much because the camera uses very little power.
There are some caveats, however. You have to be within range of where your phone’s signal reaches.
The video feed through this method could also be grainy depending on the distance and obstructions between the router and camera location.
The phone will need enough battery life to last for hours, so this isn’t ideal if you’re going camping without access to electricity or want reliable long-term surveillance in remote areas.
A mobile hotspot is an android device running on Android version 2.2 or a newer operating system, which can create its WiFi network so other devices can connect to it. This feature is usually called a “hotspot” in most android smartphones.
Suppose you are here to find an answer to how to connect a WiFi camera to a mobile hotspot. In that case, use the WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) method of connecting your camera to your phone’s network (the WiFi password for the camera will be the WPS PIN).
First, power up your router by plugging it into an electric socket or using batteries, and insert a SIM card with internet access in it before you launch your mobile hotspot application.
If you don’t have physical access to both items (router, SIM card), there are still ways to create wireless hotspots using your android phone.
Go to the Android app store and install an app called “Portal”. Launching the app creates its WiFi network with a unique name to connect your camera.
It will then ask for your phone number to send you a confirmation code by SMS or have it call your phone number.
The Portal’s free version only allows one concurrent user at a time, so if multiple devices are trying to access the router simultaneously, it will not work properly.
There is no way of knowing whether your camera is connected because there is no log file in the application UI (user interface).
To test if your camera has successfully connected to your phone’s network, you can go to the mobile hotspot app in the settings menu and see if it lists any devices there.
If you want to connect multiple cameras to your mobile hotspot or enjoy fewer limitations on concurrent users in the free version of Portal, install another “WiFi Sharing” application.
It is also available for free download in most android app stores. You’ll have to let this application act as a router, too, through its settings.
Now, you will be able to view all wireless device connections under WiFi Sharing’s drop-down menu just like you would in your home router’s dashboard.
The only downside is that it doesn’t give you the option of creating a WPS-protected network, so you will have to enter the camera’s WiFi password every time manually.
This application is probably better if you want to create more than one wireless hotspot on your android phone because of its multiple concurrent users’ capability.
Suppose you want to hide your router under a fireproof cover or inside metal walls. In that case, this method may not work well for you because the WiFi signal could be blocked by the material and thus interfere with the camera connection speed.
There are still ways around this limitation using physical tools like an external WiFi dongle connected through a USB cable or Bluetooth adapter. Still, these would require more hardware configuration, which I won’t go into detail about here.
It is still a useful feature, particularly if you have an android phone because many home security cameras will not connect to a local network’s router or through a wireless bridge.
It means that you can use two WiFi devices simultaneously without having to purchase additional hardware from your internet service provider.
The World of Technology is Evolving
The world of technology is evolving very quickly. With this in mind, it can be difficult to keep up with everything going on out there.
Some folks are fine doing things the old-fashioned way, but for those of us who want everything now or at least as fast as possible, owning a camera that shoots video in ultra-high definition can come in handy.
But do you believe if I told you that your brand new high-definition WiFi-enabled camera, which allows you to see your baby or pet with ease, doesn’t necessarily have to be attached to a computer?
You might think it sounds crazy, but thanks to modern technology and ingenuity, people can watch live feeds from their cameras on nearly every platform you can imagine.
The first thing you’re going to want is to find a nearby CCTV IP address and afterward download an app that will allow your camera to connect with all those devices. There are different apps out there, but we decided to go with LiveCams Pro.
You’ll start by downloading the app and then hooking up your WiFi-enabled camera so it can sync up.

Once you’ve done this, it’s as simple as opening the application and signing in with the email address and password you made when first setting up your camera. After entering these credentials, congratulations! It’s time to enjoy the show!
Now that we’ve put that behind us, let’s talk about what platforms you can use for this connection to have the best outdoor security camera system experience:
Some other things you should know:
Don’t let these types of applications intimidate you because once you sit down and spend some time downloading them, setting up your WiFi-enabled camera becomes a hassle-free process!
And after having done it once, we promise that taking steps to keep up with modern technology will become second nature.
As far as connecting your camera to your mobile goes, that’s all you need to know. Isn’t it great? It’s like having a live nanny cam attached to your phone.
So, whether you’re interested in putting a security system in place or want some extra eyes on your baby monitor at work, we certainly hope this article helped get you started!
Choose an appropriate WiFi-camera
There are a lot of good WiFi cameras on the market, but only some of them are compatible with mobile devices. So, connect a WiFi camera to mobile?
First, you need to choose an appropriate WiFi camera. If it is offered with an option to connect via USB, then there should be no problems.
Almost all the cameras are equipped with a standard USB interface, so it will be easy to connect your camera to a mobile phone or another device that has a USB port.
The second thing is whether you can live without the remote control of the camera.
If the connection between the camera and mobile device doesn’t provide remote control, you lose many useful functions.
The last thing to consider is file transmission speed. How fast should the wireless connection be?
Well, first of all, a WiFi camera that can transfer images quickly, but if you have chosen a bit slower model, it would be good to have a USB 2.0 interface on your mobile device.
So, if you have chosen the right camera and fast mobile device with a USB 2.0 interface, you can connect your camera to your mobile phone.
