Find your IP camera’s UDP port forwarding rules
Forwarding IP camera UDP rules:
- 1. Log in router’s web interface at the device’s default IP address
- 2. Click on Advanced Settings, usually near the bottom or middle of the page
- 3. Click on Port Forwarding / Port Triggering
- 4. Click on Add New Port Forwarding Rule or Add New Port Triggering Rule- one, sometimes the other, usually indicated by a red button that says something like “Add rule” or “Save” beside it
- 5. You will be prompted for various information about this particular port forward you are adding- name it anything, leave everything else blank, and enter “yes” in both boxes under Protocol. Fill out Destination with the IP address and UDP port number your camera uses to send video out. This info is either in the manual for your specific camera or at the camera’s login page under Administration.
Save this rule! If you don’t save it, it will automatically be deleted/cleared when you navigate away from the page- so click Save again if prompted after entering the above information.
- 6. Once you have saved that rule, go back to Port Forwarding / Port Triggering and click on View List (the actual name of this button may vary according to the router make and model).
- 7. This is where you must choose if your IP camera uses TCP or UDP to send video, so be very sure about what type of data it sends before making a mistake and choosing the wrong Protocol! If you’re not 100% sure which one your camera uses.
- 8. Enter “yes” into both boxes under Protocol, fill out Destination with the IP address and TCP(or UDP) port number your camera uses to send video out. Again, this info can be found either in the manual for your specific camera.
- 9. That’s it! All ports should be forwarded, and you should now be able to view your camera’s video feed through the Internet!

- 1) Installation steps for Nxcam
Android OS 2 .2 or later version is required for installing Nxcam 1) On Android devices, go to Settings – Wireless & Networks – Mobile Networks.
